Flight Frames Photography

Here is a quick story on how this website became to be

Two years ago on my birthday, I wanted a camera to take pictures of the airplanes I saw at the airport when I traveled. My dad dug up an old camera from his office, and it was my mom's Canon Rebel Ti1. This thing was from May 2009, so it was "vintage". I was pretty stoked and got myself a cheap telephoto lens from Amazon. To be honest, the lens has been great, besides a few rounds of super glue (it is still going strong). On my birthday, my dad drove me to the airport to take pictures of the planes. I had no clue what I was doing; the extent of my photography knowledge was tapping the button on my phone and switching between photo and video. So of courese, my photos looked pretty bad when I first started. I did't know what ISO, shutter speed, or aperture was. My photos were blurry because of the slow shutter speed, and grainy because of my astronomically ISO (It was at 3200).

At the time, I thought my pictures were amazing, so I attempted to upload them to jetphotos.com. If you are unfamiler with this website, it is THE place to upload aviation photography. Obviously my photo got rejected and the screener left a long list of things that were wrong with my photo, and I was pretty bummed about this. I kept practicing and slowly my photography skills got better. They still weren't great, but you could actually tell what airline it was from, and sometimes what type of plane it was. I kept uploading to jetphotos, but every single photo got rejected. I tried planespotters.net, with all of my photos also getting rejected on there. I wanted someone to appreciate my photos, so I tried flightaware, which had no screening process. I uploaded my photos and no one was looking at them. However, my photo of Southwest's Imua One got picked to be featured in the daily newsletter (I never saw it) but I was hyped about this.

Reject, after reject, after reject. I have had over 20 rejections from JetPhotos, not including planespotters.net.

As my photography career continued, I was still consistently uploading my photos to jetphotos and planespotters, with everyone being rejected. My skills were improving, and I was tired of wasting my time with those snobby aviation photography websites. So one day, I made my own. At the time it was a random google sites, URL, and was impossible to find if you googled it. That was ok though, becasue I could share my photos with family and friends. Now I got a job, so I purchased a website domain for my website. All of the ones I wanted were already in use, or were too expensive. So, I asked chat gpt on ideas for what to name it. It spat out a list and "flight frames" sounded perfect! It was available, and on sale. I got the domain and struggled for a couple hours trying to connect a Go Daddy domain to a google sites site. I got it up and running, made myself a logo, and turned it into a watermark. I started the long process (I am still wotking on this) of re-editing all of my photos, and attaching watermarks to each (I don't want you stealing).

So that is my story on how this small little website came to be. I'm always updating this place, so feel free to come back any time. I'm thinking of adding my real life safetly card collection on here, so that will be interesting if that ever happends. But I would just like to thank you for being here and reading my yap. Enjoy!
